Digital Desk: Hours after the severe accident atop the Shraddhanjali Flyover in the Zoo Road area, Guwahati Commissioner of Police Diganta Barah said on Saturday that the police are investigating the circumstances behind the disaster.

"It is not only our job to impose fines or punish for violating traffic rules or disobeying laws," Barah stated, "but it is also our responsibility to save a person's life." We have done everything we can to raise awareness about road safety, but unfortunately, incidents occurred last night. As a result, I urge everyone to be alert and cautious," he added.

"We are investigating the circumstances under which the accidents took place atop Shraddhanjali Flyover that caused significant damage to the boundary railings of Assam map structure," Barah said in a statement.

"We have seen the video of the young women sitting on the roof of the car, he added.

With this, the police commissioner has issued a warning to adhere to all rules and regulations during the Durga Puja celebrations.

The city police caught a drunk driver who caused severe damage to the railing of the Assam map construction atop Shraddhanjali Flyover in Guwahati's Zoo Road area earlier today.

Two home guards were injured when the accused driver's XUV 700 collided with them and slammed into the fence. Following the event, the injured jawans, Saniram Boro and Rupam Kalita, filed a complaint against the driver at Geetanagar Police Station (Traffic), and he was apprehended.

Kuldeep Parasar, a Himachal Pradesh citizen, was identified as the driver.

Kuldeep drove into the railings boundary of the Assam map construction at the famed Zoo Tiniali trisection atop Shraddhanjali Flyover during the early hours of today.

The XUV 700, with the registration number AS01 FP 3591, was travelling from Chandmari to Ganeshguri when it collided with the railing boundary of the state map structure, causing substantial damage.
