Digital Desk: In a shocking instance, a woman filed a police report against her husband, alleging that he faked her death for seven years in order to marry his brother's wife.

The incident was reported in Cherekapar, Sivasagar district, on Friday, (March 3, 2023).

According to the FIR filed by the complainant, Nilofar Ahmed, she claimed that her husband, Firoz Ahmed, and his brother-in-law's wife Sharifa Begum, had an extramarital affair for the last year before they married on October 22, last year.

"For the past year, my husband Firoz Ahmed and my brother-in-law's wife Sharifa Begum have been having an affair. They eloped to Kerela in March last year because they were so deeply in love. They later came back. Sharifa Begum went to Guwahati with her father a few days later. My husband paid all of the travel costs. When I confronted my husband about having an extramarital affair, he would beat and abuse me badly, Nilofar Ahmed told the media.

She added that her husband failed to pay their son's school fees.

Having no other choice, the woman decided to file a police report, following which the couple settled the dispute.

Surprisingly, Sharifa returned again to Sivasagar in October of last year and married Nilofar Ahmed's husband by faking her death.

"The marriage was performed according to Islamic rites, and one Asma Begum was involved in transporting them to a 'Kazi' from Charaideo," Nilofar Ahmed said.

The helpless woman further asserted that Sharifa and Firoz Ahmed had fled to Kolkata in February of last year and returned to Assam after a week.

"Despite the fact that I'm alive, my husband brutally tortured me again for questioning him about his trip to Kolkata and illegal marriage with Sharifa. My son has heart disease and just had a bypass operation. I, therefore, seek justice," said the complainant.

The woman also claimed to have proof of a 5000 UPI payment made by her husband to the 'Kazi' for arranging the marriage with her brother-in-law's wife.

Meanwhile, Sharifa Begum's husband, Jitul Ali (brother of Firoz Ahmed), filed another FIR in connection with the case at Sivasagar police station.
