    Six Officials of Mandia Development Block were Arrested by Assam CM’S Special Vigilance Cell

    Guwahati:  Around six officials and staff of Mandia Development Block were arrested by the Assam CM’s Special Vigilance Cell on Wednesday for allegedly misappropriating money from the MLA Fund of the Baghbar constituency.





    The accused were identified as Yusufur Rahman the then BDO of Mandia Development Block, Jadav Choudhury the then BDO of Mandia development Block, Ainur Rahman JE, Mandia Development Block, Abdur Rezzak president of the construction committee, Mujahidur Rahman president of construction committee and Sahjamal Ali president of the construction committee, all were arrested from Mangaldai, Barpeta and Guwahati respectively by the CM’s Special Vigilance Cell.





    An FIR which has been filed against the six accused in Chandmari Police Station stated that in a regular enquiry conducted by the enquiry officer it was found that an amount of Rs 25,08,323 has been misappropriated in connivance and collusion of officials and staff of the Mandia Development Block without execution and implementation of 14 schemes under Baghbar LAC for construction of roads under MLA Local Area Development (MLALAD)fund.





    A team of CM vigilance cell and PWD experts has verified all the MLA LAD schemes and it was found that schemes were not executed as per plan by the construction committee constructed by Deputy Commissioner of Barpeta upon the recommendation of the local MLA.





    As per the report, a total amount of Rs. 65,00,000 was released from the MLALAD fund, out of which Rs. 25,08,323 was misused by the construction committee without executing the plan, resulting in the loss to the government exchequer.
