    Stern Warning issued to city bus drivers as investigation launched into Khanapara accident

    Digital Desk: An investigation into the unfortunate accident that killed an autorickshaw driver in the Khanapara neighborhood of Guwahati earlier on Tuesday will begin, according to the District Transport Officer (DTO) of Kamrup Metro.

    Bus conductors were strongly advised by the DTO not to operate the buses; if they did, they would be subject to severe penalties.

    Speaking to reporters, the Kamrup (M) DTO stated that the Transport Department had a conversation with the officials of the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC). Additionally, the department has participated in discussions with the Auto-Drivers Association.

    The DTO added that the companies operating the buses will get a formal notice from them, threatening severe repercussions if such instances recur.

    It should be noted that on Tuesday, an autorickshaw driver in Khanapara, Guwahati, lost his life in a horrific traffic accident that also injured two other people. Reports state that near Khanapara, a parked auto-rickshaw registered as AS 01QC 8716 was struck by a CNG bus with registration number AS 20 2558.

    According to reports, Hitesh Kalita, the driver of the autorickshaw, was killed on the spot. However, reports also stated that two more people were hurt in the incident. They were moved to a hospital so they could receive medical care.
