Student stabs teacher to death for allegedly ‘scolding’ him in Assam's Sivasagar

Digital Desk: In a shocking incident, a Class 11 student allegedly stabbed his teacher to death inside a classroom at a coaching centre in Assam’s Sivasagar on Saturday. The incident unfolded after the teacher reportedly scolded the student for his poor academic performance. According to police reports, the stabbing occurred after other professors had left the classroom.

"We received information about a stabbing incident at the coaching centre. Preliminary details suggest that a student stabbed his teacher, resulting in significant bloodshed at the scene. The weapon, a knife, was recovered from the classroom," the police said.

Initially rushed to the hospital in critical condition, the teacher succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

A classmate of the accused revealed that earlier in the day, the teacher had reprimanded the student for an unspecified issue, prompting him to briefly leave the centre. Upon returning, a confrontation ensued leading to the fatal attack.

The accused, identified as a minor, has been apprehended and taken to the local police station for questioning.

"We are currently investigating the circumstances that led to this tragic incident. CCTV footage from the coaching centre is being reviewed to gather further evidence," stated police officials.
