    Digital desk: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a 4% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state pensioners and employees on March 14, which was good news for Assamese state government workers. 

    CM Sarma announced today, during a press conference in Guwahati, that the DA hike will take effect on January 1, 2024. The Chief Minister further stated that the money would be deposited into the state government employees' accounts in installments because of the approaching Lok Sabha elections.

    Due to the recent increase in dearness allowance, state government employees' DA has reached 50%. May will see the payment of the first arrear, June will see the payment of the second arrear, and July will see the payment of the third installment. 

    Important announcements concerning the hiring of Grade IV staff for Assamese Middle English (ME) and Lower Primary (LP) schools were also made by the chief minister. The Chief Minister stated during a news conference that LP, ME, and Higher Secondary Class IV employees will be hired in their villages based on merit.

    Regarding the opening of the recently constructed flyover in Basishtha, Assam, the chief minister declared that it will take place at 11 a.m. today. CM Sarma will open the six-lane Basistha-Jalukbari section of the Guwahati Bypass, which was finished almost five months ahead of schedule. 

    Four flyovers at some of the busiest junctions along the 16.448-kilometer, Rs 300-crore project's route—Lokhra, Gorchuk, Boragaon, and Basistha—as well as a vehicle underpass at Lalmati, are part of the project.

    The Assam government has also declared further incentives for journalists, along with special discounts for anyone utilizing solar panels. The Chief Minister made the news at a press conference. Discounts of Rs 15,000, Rs 30,000, and Rs 45,000 are available on 1 kW, 2 kW, and 3 kW solar panels, respectively, under the promotion.
