Based on reliable information about their intended cross-border entry to conduct sabotage operations, the team—led by Partha Sarathi Mahanta, IPS, IGP(STF) and Kalyan Kumar Pathak, APS, Addl SP, STF—was sent in.
Early on March 20, after stepping over the international border, the suspects were apprehended in the Dharmasala neighborhood of Dhubri.
The persons that were taken into custody include Anurag Singh, an associate of ISIS's leader in India, and Haris Farooqi. The NIA is searching for them.
