Digital Desk: On Wednesday, two powerful blasts occurred near Congress leaders' houses in Imphal, Manipur. Just ahead of assembly elections, the pre-poll violence seems to continue in the state.
Police stated that two decisive bombs, including an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), exploded remotely, went off in front of the homes of two Congress leaders.
However, no one was injured in the blasts in Imphal West and Imphal East districts. According to the police, the IED exploded in front of the residence of Congress leader Kh Ratankumar at Kangla Sangomshang in Imphal East district. The blasts have severely damaged the cars in the parking.
The second explosion occurred near the home of former MLA Salam Joy Singh at Samurou in Imphal West district. It has damaged the entrance gate and the front part of the Congress leader's home.

Both Ratankumar and Singh are Congress ticket candidates from the Khurai and Wangoi assembly constituencies, respectively.
Soon after the blasts, security forces have conducted search operations to find the attackers. Individuals in both regions opposed the explosions in front of the homes of the Congress candidates.
This blast is the second such pre-poll violence in the state. Also, on January 9, unidentified attackers at Wangoi in the Imphal West district shot two people, including police personnel. So, this bomb explosion is the sixth such violence in the state in two months.
On Saturday, the Election Commission informed the schedule of the two-phase-polls- February 27 and March 3 - to the 60-seat Manipur assembly. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
