During the 'Ulta Rath,' seven people were electrocuted to death, including three children and three women, and 16 more were injured...

Digital Desk: Tripura CM Manik Saha ordered a magisterial probe into the Ulta Rath Yatra tragedy on Thursday after seven individuals lost their life thereafter coming into contact with a high-tension wire. During the Ulta Rath Yatra, at least seven persons died from electrocution, and 16 more suffered burn wounds.

The Tripura government will grant each of the relatives of those who perished in the Ulta Rath Yatra disaster an ex-gratia of 4 lakh rupees, while serious burn victims will receive a grant of 2.5 lakh rupees. The accident site was also inspected by the chief minister, who evaluated the situation.

Manik Saha stated, "The state government has agreed to offer ex-gratia of 4 lakhs to the family of each deceased person, Rs. 2.5 lakh for those who received severe (above 60%) injuries, and Rs. 74,000 for those who have been partially (40–60%) damaged. He also passed a directive directing a commission led by the district magistrate to investigate the incident and provide a report.

Further, as stated by Manik Saha, such an incident has never occurred in Tripura's history. "The severity of this sad tragedy is beyond words. The chariot was electrocuted during the Ulto Rath Yatra when it came into touch with a wire. Those who were on the chariot's stairway perished instantly, but those who were within the chariot were unharmed. This incident is incredibly regrettable and unthinkable.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakhs for each family of a deceased and Rs. 50,000 for each injured person.

The injured were taken urgently to the hospitals at Fatikroy, Kumarghat, and GB Pant. Manik Saha claimed to have visited hospitals to see the Ulta Rakh Yatra victims.
