    Digital Desk: India's Vice President Jagdeep Dhakhar landed in Guwahati on Monday on his one-day visit to the state.

    Vice President Dhankhar was greeted with a bouquet and Assamese gmosa by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Governor Gulab Chand Kataria at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBI).

    On his one-day visit to the city, Vice President Dhankhar is scheduled to participate in an interactive one-hour session with the university's staff, students, and academics.

    He will later attend a convocation ceremony at Royal Global University followed by a felicitation programme at Radisson Blu Guwahati.

    Guwahati Traffic Police issued a notice imposing specific vehicle movement restrictions to ensure public safety for the day.

    The press statement states that the following limitations on vehicle mobility have been imposed:

    The notice reads, “To ensure the safety of the public, especially vulnerable road users like children, students, women, senior citizens and differently-abled persons on the road and to give free route to the emergency vehicles like Ambulances, Fire tenders etc. The following restrictions on the movement of vehicles shall be imposed during the visit of Hon’ble VP of India to Guwahati on 30th October 2023.”

    The plying of commercial goods-carrying vehicles with four wheels and above will be prohibited on NH-27 and NH-17, falling under Guwahati City from 8 am to 8 pm on October 30, 2023

    Commercial goods carrying vehicles with three wheels or more are not allowed to be operated on AT Road, DG Road, MG Road, Tyabullah Road, GNB Road, B. Barooah Road, or GS Road from 7 a.m. to 4 pm on 30th October, 2023.
