Digital Desk: In a shocking incident, a young woman was brutally attacked with a knife by an individual in Guwahati's Survey locality in Beltola.

The victim, identified as Ankita Das Kashyap was brutally attacked with a knife by an individual identified as Amit Bhowmik.

According to reports, Bhowmik had allegedly been stalking Ankita and mentally abusing her for some time.

Citing Bhowmik's threats and ongoing inspection, Ankita had lodged an FIR at Dispur police station. The attacker continued harassing her despite this, even making threatening calls to her family members.

Ankita's mother expressed her dismay with the way the police handled the case, saying that Amit Bhowmik was not detained right away despite their concerns. She emphasized that Ankita had turned down Bhowmik's attempts on several occasions and had no love relationship with him.

While talking to reporters, Ankita’s mother said, "Amit Bhowmik had been stalking my daughter for an extended period. Despite lodging an FIR at Dispur police station, I am disappointed with the police's response. They must promptly arrest Amit, given his threats against us. Ankita had no romantic involvement with Amit; she consistently rejected his advances.

His attack on our flat yesterday is a direct result of her refusal. The responsibility also lies with our flat's security, who allowed Amit entry despite our warnings and providing his photograph for identification.”

The victim, Ankita Das Kashyap, was the youngest child of Puspalata Das, a former lecturer at Agia College in the Goalpara district, and Dr. Manindra Chandra Das, the superintendent of T.B. Hospital in Dhubri.
