    Youth Found Dead from Drug Overdose in Assam’s Golaghat

    Digital Desk: In a disturbing event, a young person was discovered unconscious on the grounds of a school in Assam's Golaghat on Sunday.

    Initial reports state that the incident was reported from the Assam village of Batiporia in the Golaghat district. It was eventually discovered that he had overdosed on drugs.
    The young person was employed outside of Assam, according to the information received. But just two days ago, he had gone back to his house in Golaghat.

    He was immediately sent to a hospital in a state of unconsciousness, but there he was pronounced dead. He was an addict who overdosed and passed away.

    Following the tragedy, the neighbourhood has turned its ire on a woman who it claims has been driving countless young people there towards addiction.

    According to reports, the woman, a resident of Batiporia hamlet, sold drugs to teenagers, sending many of them down the road to addiction.

    Earlier on February 10, two members of the All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) allegedly suffered significant injuries after being attacked by drug users in the Udalguri region of Assam.

    The incident was reported in the Sonai Alichinga neighbourhood of Udalguri. Mithinga Basumatary, the spokesperson for the ABSU, and Arkihita Basumatary, the treasurer, were assaulted physically.

    According to sources, the ABSU members started a campaign on Thursday night to stop narcotics smuggling from the Sonai area. The two were attacked by a gang of drug users while on this drive.

    The Udalguri Police arrived at the scene in the interim and were successful in apprehending two drug users. Romeo and Manoj Daimary have been named as the arrested suspects. The members of the ABSU were transported to a hospital, where they are currently receiving medical attention.
