    Assam: 14 Year Old Boy Goes Missing After Exams In Sivsagar

    Digital Desk: In a concerning turn of events, 14-year-old Bastav Konwar, a Class IX student of Bakota Nemuguri Higher Secondary School, has been reported missing in Sivasagar. Bastav was last seen on his way home after completing his school exam on Thursday.

     

    The worried family of the missing student has filed an FIR at the Bokota Nemuguri police station, initiating swift action by the authorities. Bastav Konwar is the son of Bubu Konwar and Indiara Konwar from No. 1 Konwar village. 

     

    The FIR says that the kid was last seen on his way home after the exam at around 11 AM on Thursday. The lost boy is aged 14 years and 5 ft 5’’ in height, the FIR mentions. The family tried to contact friends and family but found no trace of him and lodged an FIR at the nearest police station, the FIR further added.

     

    Ajanta Neog, the minister of women and child development for Assam, informed the assembly in February that over 3,700 children had gone missing from their homes in the state from 2021 to 2023, of which 3,419 have been rescued.

     

    She said cases of child trafficking are reported from almost all districts of the state, with Kamrup, Udalguri, Sonitpur, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, and Biswanath accounting for most such crimes.
