    Digital Desk: Incessant rain created havoc in Assam, with two more deaths reported from Goalpara District as a result of massive landslides.

    Two children were killed after a landslide led to the collapse of a residence in Goalpara District’s Azad Nagar region on Wednesday, taking the death toll to 44 in the state.

    Both the deceased were identified as Hussain Ali (11 yrs) and Asma Khatoon (8 yrs).

    In a few days, there have been many landslides reported across Guwahati, injuring three people in the Noonmati area.

    Several communities, including Joypur in the Kharguli neighborhood, Bonda Colony, South Sarania, Amayapur in Geetanagar, and 12 Mile, were affected by the debris pile up.

    Work to clean the stretch leading to Nizarapar is still underway, according to officials.

    Meanwhile, due to the persistent rain, two electric poles near Raj Bhavan were destroyed.

    Over 75,000 people in the 18 districts have been affected due to flood.

    Notably, the water level in the Brahmaputra river and its tributaries is rising, while the Manas river is flowing above the danger mark across certain regions.
