Assam police arrested 2 suspected terrorists with links to AQIS and ABT in Goalpara

Accused Abdus Subahan of the ABT was apprehended in a mosque in the Goalpara district where he had been working as an Imam for the last two years.

Digital Desk: Two alleged terrorists connected to Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) and Al-Qaeda Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) were detained by the Assam Police on Saturday in the Goalpara district of Assam.

This happened a few weeks after the Moirabari neighborhood's Jamiul Huda Madrasa was destroyed by the Morigaon district administration.

Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), a terrorist organization with ties to Bangladesh, ran the Jamiul Huda Madrasa under the direction of Mustafa alias Mufti Mustafa, a resident of Saharia Gaon in Morigaon and a key source of funding for the ABT. Because of his connections to ABT and Al-Qaeda in the Indian subcontinent, Mustafa was detained by the Morigaon police (AQIS).

On July 28, 11 people were apprehended in Assam as part of a significant crackdown for allegedly having ties to international terrorist organizations like AQIS and ABT.

On July 29, the police discovered eight individuals, among them Mustafa, who had connections to ABT and AQIS. They brought them before the Barpeta Court, which sentenced them to nine days in police custody.

Al Qaeda and the ABT are connected in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS). The Jamiul Huda Madrasa was sealed by the authorities because they claimed that Mustafa's madrasa was being supported by the proceeds of illegal operations.

Along with Mustafa, the police also detained Goalpara's Abbas Ali (22) and Afsaruddin Bhuyan (39), who used to supply supplies and refuge to one of the fugitive members named Mehbubur Rehman.

Mehbubur Rehman, also known by his pseudonym Mehbub, was a member of the Ansarullah Bangla Team. In the Jogighopa PS case, he was wanted. On July 26, he was taken into custody by the Bongaigaon police force.

Jubair Khan (age 25), Rafiqul Islam (age 27), Dewan Hamidul Islam (20), Moinul Haque (age 42), Kajibur Hussain (age 37), Muzibaur Rahman (age 50), Shahanur Aslam, and Sahjahan Ali (age 34) are the other suspects in the case.

More information on the case is anticipated.
