National Film Award-winning director Rima Das will now make a film based on the life of India’s new athletics sensation and Assam girl Hima Das.
Rima’s new movie “Bulbul can sing” will be premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival from September 6 to 16. Das hails from Chaygaon, 50 km southwest of Guwahati.
Bringing glory to the nation, sprinter Hima, popularly known as Dhing Express, created a history after clinching a gold medal in the 400-meter final at IAAD – World Under-20 Athletics Championships in Tampere, Finland. Das took only 51.46 seconds to claim the top position in the 400 meter final. She hails from Kandhulimari village in Dhing, Nagaon.
Rima was present at the inauguration ceremony of the first mobile theatre hall in Assam – Prag Picture Time on Thursday at AEI filed in Chandmari here. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the theatre hall.
Speaking to media persons, she shared her plans regarding directing a film on Hima and added that she is elated to take her film Bulbul can Sing to the Toronto International Film Festival.
The 120-seater theatre will be equipped with Dolby sound and new technology.
