Digital Desk: In a significant development, Manash Borah, the General Secretary of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, has tendered his resignation from the Indian National Congress. In a heartfelt letter addressed to Congress chief Mallikaarjuna Kharge, Borah expressed his gratitude for the opportunities provided to him to serve the people of his state in various capacities.
Citing the need to explore new opportunities and avenues for the welfare of the people and the state he represents, Borah stated that he will forever cherish the memories and experiences gained while working with the Indian National Congress.
Borah's resignation comes into effect on March 30, 2024, marking the end of his tenure within the party. His departure leaves a void in the leadership of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee amid the looming elections.
After resigning from the party, Manash told the media that there is no avenue for social service and criticised the APCC president for running the party at his will without discussing with other officials of the party.
Meanwhile, All India Professionals' Congress president, Gauravv Somani, resigned on Saturday from all party positions and the Congress party's primary membership, dealing the party yet another serious blow in Assam. Shashi Tharoor formed the All India Professionals' Congress, or AIPC, as a section of the Indian National Congress in 2017 with an emphasis on working professionals and entrepreneurs.
