BTC Elections 2025: UPPL Optimistic About Victory, Peace & Development in Focus
Is the political and social environment in BTR now stable? How is the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) leading the development journey of BTR?

Digital Desk: Is peace really established in Bodoland Territorial Council (BTR), once a violence-affected region of Assam?

Is the political and social environment in BTR now stable? How is the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) leading the development journey of BTR?

All these questions have been answered by Raju Dhakal, an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to BTR Chief Pramod Bodo.

Raju Dhakal, known as a social activist and owner of Bodoland Eye Hospital, has an experience of 17 years in the corporate sector.

Dhakal, who has been serving the people of BTR, is actively working under the leadership of Pramod Bodo.

According to him, BTR has changed a lot over the three decades since the start of Bodoland conflict, a long-standing ethnic and political dispute primarily involving the Bodo people and their demand for greater autonomy and a separate state called Bodoland.

For the last 4.4 years, the BTR government is working and taking special initiatives for the development of the region.

Raju Dhakal said that the BTC government has developed a Community Specific Vision Document for 26 communities to understand their aspirations and expectations.

Communities like Tribal, Gurkha, Bengali, Rabha, Koch Rajbongshi, and several others were brought back together to understand their issues and demands.

A roadmap is being prepared so that the government can start working for the betterment of locals, Dhakal said.

The Super 50 initiative by CEM of BTR has been initiated to help medical, engineering, and APSC aspirants.

Under the Community Specific Vision Document, two students each from a community will get chance to start their coaching. These initiatives have been launched before Assam government, Dhakal said.

He further said that peace prevails in BTR, with no Bodo, or non-Bodo conflicts. A 360-degree development process is ongoing in BTR for a population of 35 lakh.

Dhakal added that the BTR government is working to provide proper roads, transportation, water supply, and medical facilities in the region.

Similar to 'Basundhara Mission' under Assam Government, BTR government has also started 'Baisumati Mission' to solve land-related issues of the people of BTR region.

He also said that the government's sole aim is to create an environment where all students can achieve success in their desired fields.

He expressed his desire to participate in the upcoming BTC elections, set to commence this year.

Sharing heartwarming incidents of people visiting his eye care hospital, Dhakal said that it has successfully completed several camps and free cataract surgeries for innocent and poor locals.

He believes he is bestowed with blessings due to his social work through his eye care hospital.

He also mentioned about Community Happiness Department in BTR, which is nowhere to be found in India, is organising workshops for women, youth, conflict-affected families, militants and ex-militants to establish peace.

Dhakal invited youth and educated students to join politics.

He believes that the BTC government should work in alliance with the Assam Government for development, which would be beneficial for the 35 lakh population of BTR.

He appealed to all the people of BTR to work with the UPPL for future development and peace in the region.

Dhakal showed confidence in winning the upcoming elections with a majority of seats.
