The case concerns an alleged question paper leak at the APPSC's written examination for the position of assistant engineer (civil) on August 26 and 27.
Digital Desk: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a case on Thursday in connection with an alleged question paper leak in an Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission recruitment exam (APPSC).
The central investigating agency said in a statement that a case had been filed against a teacher associated with a coaching institute in Itanagar and unknown APPSC officials.
The case involves an alleged leak of question papers during the APPSC's written test for the position of assistant engineer (civil) on August 26 and 27.
The complaint was filed at the request of the Arunachal Pradesh government, and the Centre issued a supplementary notification shifting investigation of the case filed by the state police last month.
"The victim (a candidate) had said that the accused (the teacher) was in possession of questions for the said examination indicating paper leaks by him in connivance with unknown APPSC officials," according to the CBI release.
A CBI team is in Itanagar to to carry on the further incestigation.
Following the leak of the recruitment exam question paper, a police investigation was launched, and nine people were detained for their alleged involvement.
In September, the state administration agreed to turn over the probe to the CBI "for a free, fair, unbiased, and prompt investigation."
Earlier this month, the administration asked the Centre to transfer the case to the CBI.
The APPSC also decided to postpone all future examinations for other government departments until further notice.
In connection with the paper leak issue, the state government suspended APPSC secretary Jayanta Kumar Ray and joint secretary and controller of examination Suraj Gurung earlier this month.
Nipo Nabam, the chairman of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), resigned from his office earlier this month on moral grounds, accepting responsibility for the leak.
