Employment Scam: 'Fake NRL website' created to entice job seekers

To lure job searchers with the promise of employment, a bogus website was made to mislead them and steal their money.

Digital Desk: Numaligarh Refinery Ltd. (NRL), the largest Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) refinery in Northeast India, claimed on Monday that a counterfeit website using its name had been set up to solicit money from potential employees under the pretense of offering them "jobs."

According to a statement from NRL General Manager (Corporate Communication) Madhuchanda Adhikari, the company has reported the crime to the National Cyber Crime Reporting portal and filed an FIR in the local police station.

"Unscrupulous elements have replicated NRL's authentic Corporate Website www.nrl.co.in to establish a fake website with the URL: www.nrlindia.in of Numaligarh Refinery Limited to steal money from unwary people for phony positions listed under the Career area," she said.

According to Adhikari, the company urged everyone to exercise caution and refrain from sending money to the faux website in exchange for unfilled employment.

On the Main Menu of the Home page of the false website, there is a link labeled "Career. She added that one clicks on the link to a page with 3,235 false job openings that ask for candidate information and drive them to a page where they may pay Rs 1,000 via online transfer to submit an application.
