    Floods in Assam have affected 42 lakh people in 33 districts, prompting CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to call a Cabinet Meeting

    Officials from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati said on Sunday that they will assist the Assam government in inspecting flood-affected areas using drones to enhance relief and rescue efforts.

    as heavy rains hammered the state, bringing the total number of people impacted
    to 42.48 lakh across 33 districts.



    color:black">Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has stated
    that a virtual conference with his cabinet ministers, state deputy commissioners,
    and civil sub divisional officers will be held today, June 20th, to examine the
    flood situation.



    On Saturday, it was
    reported that nine additional individuals had died in the previous twenty-four
    hours, including three children. With this, the total number of people killed
    has grown to 71 in just five days. In Assam, the number of persons affected has
    risen to 42.28 lakh across 33 districts.

    A total of 744 relief
    camps have been set up by the respective district administrations where over
    1.86 lakh people have taken shelter.

    said on Sunday that they will assist the Assam government in inspecting
    flood-affected areas using drones to enhance relief and rescue efforts.



    color:black">Officials from the state administration contacted the institute,
    according to PTI, to ask for assistance in surveying flood-affected areas.
    Drones will be deployed to assess the situation in villages where flooding has
    hampered road connectivity.



    The work will begin as
    soon as feasible, according to Parmeshwar Iyer, the dean of IIT Guwahati. He
    stated that the exercise is critical in assisting the government in developing
    an action plan to better prepare for the monsoon season.
