Guwahati : Throwing life out of gear due to the heavy downpour and excessive water logging in Guwahati, the city is facing almost near submergence with areas along the Brahmaputra River already inundated causing serious concerns for the citizens.
As per the latest reports, the water level in river Brahmaputra has exceeded the danger level of 49.68 meters and is expected to rise to 50.55 meters by July 15th, 2019.
The Inland Water Department has already suspended the operations of all departmental boats and vessels due to the water level rising above danger level.
The 35 feet high statue of Ahom General Lachit Borphukan an installed in the middle of the Brahmaputra is on the verge to get submerged as the water level continues to increase in the river.
Areas along the Brahmaputra River such as Fancy bazaar, Chandmari, Anupam Nagar, Sinubari, Hatigaon Main road and many others are already facing immense trouble due to water logging.
People are complaining about the authorities never taking the situation of water logging and flooding never taking it seriously and every year the people have to undergo acute trouble commuting through these inundated roads.
