    Home Minister Amit Shah Inaugurates First Phase Of Revamped Police Academy In Dergaon
    Following the inauguration, Amit Shah was briefed about the facilities of the police academy by DGP Harmeet Singh.

    Digital Desk: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on March 15 inaugurated the first phase of the revamped police academy named after Lachit Barphukan at Dergaon, Golaghat. He also laid the foundation stone for the final phase of the academy.

    The Rs 1,024 crore 'Lachit Barphukan Police Academy' project aims to enhance police training with advanced training facilities and modern infrastructure. The first phase worth Rs 167.4 crore includes a five-story building housing smart classrooms, weapon stimulator, research labs, administrative offices, etc.

    Following the inauguration, Amit Shah was briefed about the facilities of the police academy by DGP Harmeet Singh. He then took a tour of the newly-built building, accompanied by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister and Former Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal, among others.

    Shah reached Assam on the evening of March 14 for a three-day visit to the Northeast. Apart from the inauguration programme in Dergaon, he will also attend an event in Mizoram and return to Assam on March 15.

    The Union Minister will attend a meeting in the Bodoland Territorial Region, concluding his 3-day visit on March 16.
