Digital Desk: Financial influencer Abhishek Kar issued an apology for his derogatory remarks about Assam's history and tradition. Abhishek's claims about Assam's Tantric practices landed him in trouble during a recent YouTube podcast.
The popular financial influencer often discusses investment and startup-related topics on different podcasts. He has around 3 million followers on Instagram. The influencer's remarks allegedly hurt the sentiments of Assamese people.
Abhishek apologized after the Chief Minister Of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma posted criticizing his comments in the podcast.
Apologizing on his X handle, Abhishek Kar wrote, "Apologies to people, @CMOfficeAssam, @gpsinghips and every concerned party who was hurt. The intent wasn't to hurt anyone and it will be kept in mind going forward that such incidents don't happen again."
He further said, "With this video, I owe an apology to all the people who I unintentionally hurt with the recent podcast clip which is going viral over the internet...I was not doing it intentionally nor wanted to create chaos because of this."
He informed that a request was sent to the podcaster to delete the portion where he made the derogatory remark. He said, "I am going to be more vigilant before depending on any sort of secondary source of data or while talking to anybody before I speak anything on a public platform.
So, please accept my apology."
Asking the Police to investigate the matter, CM Sarma posted on X, "A video from a YouTube channel, named Riya Upreti, is in circulation where an individual named Abhishek Kar is seen making unacceptable comments on Assam's history and traditions. Appropriate action may be initiated against the said individual for spreading misinformation."
Replying to CM Sarma's post, DGP GP Singh posted, "Noted sir. Lawful action shall be taken. Warm regards."
On a podcast with Riya Upreti, Abhishek Kar claimed that some Assamese women of Mayong could turn a human into a goat and could turn it back into a human again using supernatural powers.
