    Major crackdown on drug trafficking in Guwahati: ‘pure heroin’ worth Rs 10 crore recovered

    STF officers seized a plastic packet containing approximately 1 kilogram of suspected ‘pure heroin’


    Digital Desk: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam recently executed a targeted raid in Guwahati, resulting in the apprehension of several individuals and the seizure of illicit substances. The Chief Public Relations Officer of the Assam Police released a press note to inform about the incident.

     

    According to the press note, the STF of Assam executed a raid at RupKonwar Path under Basistha Police Station's jurisdiction in Guwahati on April 9, 2024. The operation resulted in the apprehension of several suspects and the confiscation of illicit substances and related items.

     

    During the raid, STF officers seized a plastic packet containing approximately 1 kilogram of suspected ‘pure heroin’. According to experts, the heroin’s market value is around 10 crore rupees. Other recovered items included three mobile phones and other undisclosed items. 

     

    The individuals arrested in connection with the raid have been identified as Suman Talukdar (32 years), Audulomi Goyari (35 years), and Nersing Basumatary (57 years). Talukdar hails from Ward No. 1, Digboi Town, Digboi; Goyari resides in 2 No. Bholatar, Dimakuchi, Udalguri; while Basumatary's address is 1 No. Nahar Bari, Silapathar, Dhemaji, with a present address listed as Sawkushi.

     

    The apprehended individuals are currently undergoing necessary legal procedures.
