    Digital Desk: Expanding its wings
ahead of the General Assembly Polls to be held in 2023, the National Party of
the Meghalaya Pradesh Trinamol Congress Party (TMC) on Saturday held a
membership drive at Umlaper village under the Mawhati Assembly Constituency in
Ri Bhoi District and also declared the party candidate for the upcoming
election by the name of Dr. Saralin Dorphang.

    The membership drives witnessed the
warm participation of the TMC leaders, including Dr. Mukul Sangma, James Sangma,
George B. Lyngdoh, and Dr. Fabian Lyngdoh, among other prominent leaders.

    It
is also witnessed that the drives were overwhelming with the participation of
over a thousand of the local people under Mawhati AC who has joined the TMC
party in support of the party candidate Dr. Saralin Dorphang, the daughter of
the former MLA and MDC P.W Muktieh.

    In
his address to the large crowd, Dr. Mukul Sangma elaborated on the TMC party's
stance on bringing much-needed changes to the state, stating that there are
only two political power centres in Meghalaya, the AITC on one hand, and all
    other parties on the other.

    In
his speech, the TMC president of Meghalaya Pradesh lashed out at the MDA led
state government of Meghalaya, stating that the MDA is the proxy BJP led
government. As soon as the 2018 elections, the BJP implemented the current MDA
    government in our state.

    With
regard to the areas of difference between Meghalaya and Assam, we submitted a
document in 2011 to claim back our rightful land. However, after the visit of
the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, and Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa
Sarma, the MDA government simply obeyed their diktats like an obedient servant.
This entire false narrative in Meghalaya is scripted by the BJP. "

    Dr.
Sangma highlighted all the hardships and grievances faced by the citizens of
the state soon after the MDA government led the state. He underlined that the
fight of the teachers, ASHA workers, and daily wage earners are facing similar
problems and hue and cries among the youths due to unemployment, which the MDA
government in the last five years has not created any new jobs. In fact, the
posts of primary school teachers are not filled in spite of MTET taking place.
