police on Wednesday made significant progress in their war on drugs by seizing
676 grams of heroin and 30 strips of nitrazepam tablets.

BISHNOI, the police put up naka in various locations after obtaining
information from a reliable source that a peddler going by the name of Gary
would be travelling from Jiribam to Shillong via Silchar with a shipment of
suspected illegal contraband.

Travels and Tours bus with the B/R number ML-05-L-7887 was stopped at around
3:50 am on Thursday, and the conductor discovered that there were two Khasi men
on board after asking. In addition, one of the two Khasi lads aboard the bus
who was questioned stated that he was Gary.

suspects Garry Kharnaior (30), a resident of Mawlai Stand Bus, and Kmenlang

black colour bag and one blue/black colour bag, respectively- were discovered
from their possession.

revealed 30 Nitrazapam pill strips from the Blue/Black Bag pack, as well as 34
and 26 soap cases wrapped in black polythene and containing yellow/orange
powder, respectively. Following that, the suspects and the baggage were taken
to Khliehriat PS. Preliminary tests on the yellow/orange powder were then
carried out in front of impartial observers after the contents of the soap
cases had been dumped into two distinct transparent polythene bags.

positive result for heroin. Thereafter, the transparent polythene bags were
then weighed separately with one bag weighing a net total of 386 gms while
another bag weighed a net total of 290 gms. In total 676 grams of heroin and 30
strips of Nitrazepam tablet has been seized.

investigation of the suspects also revealed that Marvin Jyrwa, who was waiting
to receive the illegal contraband at Mawryngkneng, was the major financier of
the entire unlawful contraband.

dispatched to Mawryngkneng, where they apprehended Marvin Jyrwa and his three
accomplices, Meibifil Buam (22 years old), Khrawboklang Kharkongor (29 years
old), and Aiborlang Laitmon (28 yrs)
