Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on his arrival in Assam, was welcomed by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma at Tezpur Airport on Friday. He was en route to Kaziranga for his overnight stay at the World Heritage Site. On Friday, upon reaching Kohora Helipad in a special helicopter, he was welcomed by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Atul Bora. PM Modi will inaugurate, dedicate, and lay the foundation stones of several projects worth 18 thousand crore rupees from Jorhat virtually.
The Jorhat speech of Narendra Modi is to be live telecasted in panchayats across Assam. According to sources, the panchayats are ordered to arrange suitable arrangements for the live telecast.
From the makeshift helipad at Panbari in Bokakhat to the Assam Police Guest House at the Kohora range of the Kaziranga National Park, Modi will take part in a 16-kilometer road show. Throughout the event, the Assamese ethnic communities greet the prime minister with 36 different kinds of dances.
“The Prime Minister is expected to spend the night in the National Park and go on a two-hour safari inside the park early the following morning. Along with seeing a lineup of draught elephants, Modi will also be treated to a performance of the well-known folk ballad Hastir Kanya, better known as Elephants Daughter, by the Park Authority. The Prime Minister will then depart for Arunachal Pradesh after that.” All India Radio reports.
After attending programs in Arunachal Pradesh, the Prime Minister will visit Jorhat at around 1.30 pm, where he will inaugurate an 84-foot-high statue of legendary Ahom warrior Lachit Borphukan at Hollonga Pathar.
“The Prime Minister will virtually lay the foundation stone of Sivasagar Medical College and Hospital, Guwahati, and Digboi Refinery expansion projects, including IOCL’s Bethkuchi Terminal in Guwahati,” it further informs.
