A male rhino was reportedly killed at Kaziranga national Park (KNP) by poachers and managed to escape with its horn.

The forest guard found recovered the male rhino body without its horn near the Burapahar ranger under Kukurkata Reserve forest.
Following the incident, the Jakhalabandha police taking inputs from the forest department have begun an investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile the whole state including wildlife activists and many organizations have been protesting against the increase rate of rhino poaching. Environmentalists and animal right activists have been persuading the state government to take stringent measures to prevent rhino poaching in the state in a bid to preserve the species; the reports of rhino poaching continue to pose a serious threat for the population’s survival.
