The elderly citizens of Umroi, along with the church leaders and special invitees, released the book christened E.K. Mawlong, a political biography of Mawbri village.
Digital Desk: In a function held today at Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Mawbri in Ri Bhoi District, the family of (L) E.K Mawlong, along with the people of Umroi Constituency, commemorated the 14th death anniversary of (L) E.K Mawlong, the former six-time MLA of Umroi Constituency and the former chief minister of Meghalaya.
The 14th death anniversary of (L) E.K Mawlong was observed by his family and the people of Umroi Constituency to pay tribute to his contributions during his tenure as the elected representative of Umroi and the former chief minister that he brought a lot of significance to infrastructural, medial and development in the constituency and the state.
On remembering his 14th death anniversary, the book written by his son (L) Ferdinand Lyngdoh about his father's political biography was released, and the (L) E.K. Mawlong Academic Excellence Award was also distributed to the meritorious students from Umroi Constituency.
The book, (L) E.K Mawlong Political Biography, was released by the elder residents of Umroi Constituency who were close to and worked with E.K Mawlong during his tenure as the representative from Umroi in the auspicious presence of church leaders, well-known people from Ri Bhoi and the people of Umroi Constituency.
The observation of the 14th death anniversary of (L) E.K Mawlong was presided over by his son, Andrew Lyngdoh, who is also a well-known journalist in Meghalaya and the Editor of U Nongsain Hima.
George B. Lyngdoh, the elder son of (L) E.K Mawlong and the local MLA of Umroi Constituency, spoke on the occasion and elaborated on the book christened, E.K Mawlong, a political biography authored by (L) Ferdinand Lyngdoh, the second elder son of the family, to pay tribute to his father and his political journey in the state, who represented for twenty-five years as the MLA of Umroi Constituency.
As written in the book, George B. Lyngdoh also informed about the contributions of his father, who during his tenure as the elected MLA of Umroi has brought a lot of significant infrastructure and developments toward the betterment of his people in the constituency and the state in general.
Meanwhile, over 500 students who had successfully passed different examinations were awarded the (L) E.K Mawlong Academic Excellence Award to encourage them to excel in higher studies and to become responsible citizens to work for the betterment of the society and community as well.
