Police protection crisis in Guwahati: ECHO Pub owner sends death threats to police Lance Naik
Digital Desk: In the latest twist to the ongoing story surrounding the altercation at the ECHO pub in Basistha, Guwahati, a new incident has emerged, further complicating matters. Following the release of three accused individuals on Sunday, a police Lance Naik received death threats on Monday night, prompting him to file a case for his safety at the Vashishtha police station.
The threats, received via phone call, were traced back to Ankur Dutta, the owner of the ECHO Hub Pub & Grill, raising concerns about the safety of law enforcement officers involved in the case. Despite the serious nature of the threats and the evidence linking them to the establishment, the police officer's plea for protection has seemingly fallen on deaf ears, as no action has been taken against the bar authorities.
Meanwhile, the medical report of Constable Pradeep Basumatary, who was brutally assaulted during the initial incident, has revealed severe injuries, with three bones damaged. Despite the gravity of the situation, city police have yet to show any inclination towards holding the bar authorities accountable for the violence perpetrated against their colleague.
As tensions continue to mount and questions remain over the handling of the case, the spotlight stays firmly fixed on the authorities' response and the pursuit of justice for those affected by the disturbing events at the ECHO pub.
