Assam's NHM takes the initiative to raise menstrual hygiene knowledge among adolescent girls.
Digital Desk: Assam's National Health Mission (NHM) will shortly introduce menstruation cards to the state's women.
On the sidelines of the Menstrual Hygiene Day here on Saturday, state NHM director MS Lakshmi Priya said the effort would help women keep a thorough record of their cycle. "Every month, girls will be able to track the dates of their cycle." They will be told further if they have any menstruation-related difficulties. This card will assist them in early registration when they become mothers," Priya explained.
To commemorate Menstrual Hygiene Day, the state NHM, in collaboration with the Kamrup (Metro) district health society, held a special awareness campaign at the Dispur Government Higher Secondary School.
On occasion, students, instructors, and NHM officials participated in an awareness rally. Lakshmi Priya, a doctor-turned-IAS officer who was noted for her innovative solutions during the Covid-19 outbreak, led the march.
Later, actress Richa Chetri, joint director of health services, Kamrup (Metro), Kandarpa Kumar Das, a gynaecologist from Pandu FRU, Anuradha Borthakur, and the principal of the host school Mridula Dutta Gogoi, spoke at an awareness gathering held on the school grounds.
