Dr. Nath shared that the child had initially been admitted to SK Roy Civil Hospital in Hailakandi before being transferred to Silchar Medical College Hospital
Digital Desk: A child in Hailakandi has succumbed to a dual infection of H1N1 and H3N2 viruses, commonly known as swine flu and influenza. The Health Department of Hailakandi has confirmed this information, revealing that the child, who tragically passed away, was afflicted by both viral strains. The child was only 1 year and 3 months old.
The disclosure was made by Dr. Alaknanda Nath, the Joint Director of Health in Hailakandi, during a press briefing held on Monday. Dr. Nath shared that the child had initially been admitted to SK Roy Civil Hospital in Hailakandi before being transferred to Silchar Medical College Hospital for further treatment as advised by medical professionals.
The family opted to discharge the child from the hospital, leading to the child's unfortunate demise at home on Sunday night.
Dr. Nath highlighted another case of a teenager named Kamran Ahmad Chowdhury from the Katakhal area of Hailakandi district who is currently undergoing treatment for the same dual viral infection. The health authorities are actively monitoring and managing the situation to prevent further spread of the diseases in the region.
Dr. Nath also told the media that there is no known history of contamination or outbreak. Health department officials have started an investigation, and surveillance is underway, she further says.
