Two orangutans were found along the Assam-Mizoram border

The orangutans were discovered abandoned at the checkpoint and are thought to have been transported from Myanmar.

Digital Desk: A forest official announced on Wednesday that two baby orangutans had been found in a remote location along the Assam-Mizoram border.

The animals were discovered late Monday at a checkpoint in the Lailapur area of Assam's Cachar district, he added.

Cachar Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Tejas Mariswamy informed PTI that the orangutans were discovered abandoned at the check-gate and are thought to have been transported from Myanmar.

According to Mariswamy, the creatures are probably younger than a year old.

According to police, an inquiry has been started.

According to experts, orangutans are large apes that were once confined to Borneo and Sumatra, but were once common in the rainforests of Indonesia and Malaysia.
