Digital Desk: Union Health and Family Welfare Minister, Jagat Prakash Nadda is on a two-day visit to Assam. During his visit, Nadda has taken significant strides in Assam's healthcare infrastructure. Nadda on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for a 50-bedded Critical Care Block at Mangaldai Civil Hospital, which was also attended by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Health Minister Ashok Singhal, Education Minister Keshab Mahanta, and MP Dilip Saikia.
The Critical Care Block project, estimated to cost Rs. 23.75 crore is under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission(PM-ABHIM). This project aims to revolutionize critical healthcare services in Assam. The Union Minister also announced the establishment of
28 more Critical Care Blocks across Assam.
Attending the event, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the Critical Care block will enhance effective patient care in the Darrang district and nearby areas.
Union Minister J P Nadda and CM Sarma also visited a Cancer Care Facility in Darrang, under Tata Trusts to review its treatment and various projects.
Earlier on Wednesday, accompanied by CM Dr. Sarma, J P Nadda inaugurated the Library and Informatics Centre at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH) in Tezpur. After the inauguration of the Library and Informatics Centre, Nadda attended the Board of Governors meeting in Tezpur with CM Sarma and Health Minister Ashok Singhal.
This project focuses on strengthening mental health education and services in the Northeastern region. At the inauguration event, Nadda said, "The new library and informatics center will empower students with advanced tools for academic and research excellence in mental health."
Nadda finally visited the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Guwahati to review the progress of its healthcare facilities and infrastructure. He discussed further developmental ideas with the department heads and interacted with the patients as well.
