    Assam Youth Olympics: Union Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur to attend closing ceremony
    In this six-day sporting event, more than 4500 athletes from 35 districts competed in 35 sports at 13 different locations all across the city with the help of 600 volunteers and scores of officials.

    Digital Desk: Union minister of youth affairs & sports and information & broadcasting, Anurag Singh Thakur, will attend the closing ceremony of the ongoing Assam Youth Olympics.

    The ceremony will be held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra on Wednesday.

    Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, and Sarbananda Sonowal, the federal minister for ports, shipping, and waterways, will be present at the event.

    The first attempt to give the state's youthful talent a stage to compete and excel for greater performance was the multidisciplinary Assam Youth Olympics in 2022. The Assam Olympics Association organised the tournament under the direction of the Assam Department of Sports and Youth Welfare.

    The General Secretary of the Assam Olympic Association, Lakhya Konwar, spoke to the media and said, "Due to the weather forecast and risk of rain, the venue of the closing ceremony is now Sankardeva Kalakhetra. Anurag Singh Thakur, a Union minister, has confirmed their attendance at tomorrow's closing ceremony of this inaugural multidisciplinary athletic event."
