Guwahati : CBI’s special fast track court passed out the verdict on the 30th October 2008 Guwahati Bomb Blast case which claimed 88 lives after 10 years of hearings, convicting main accused Ranjan Daimary (NDFB chief) and 15 others lodged in the jail for allegedly carrying out episodic bomb blasts in Guwahati, Bongaigaon, Barpeta and Kokrajhar killing many and injuring more than 500 people in the bomb blast that shook Assam in the year 2008.

The main accused in the case, Ranjan Daimary, chief of National Democratic Front of Bodoland along with fifteen others have been booked under section 120(B), 121, 122, 123 and 302 of the IPC.
CBI fast track pronounce Ranjan Daimary convict
At least 650 witnesses had recorded their statements in the court of which some 687 exhibits or documentary evidence in connection to the state. As per reports, it took almost nine years to record the statements of 70–odd witnesses; statements of others were recorded within the last couple of months.

It is to be noted that the blast claimed lives of 88 innocent people and injured 580 people in the episodic bomb blast that shook on 30th October, 2008. The Bomb blasts were allegedly carried out by NDFB Chief Ranjan Daimary in Guwahati, Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon and Barpeta.
Of the total accused, three have already died while four others are still on the run.
Historic verdict by CBI fast track court
In a historic verdict passed on by the CBI fast track court, the verdict has brought the much awaited relief to the families of the victims as well as the entire state who have been for the past decade waiting for the judgment.
The pronouncement of the punishment will take place at the court next day.
