BCCI President Sourav Ganguly Plans to Host Women’s IPL Soon
Digital Desk:  Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly focuses on enhancing women’s ipl cricket, as he intends to accomplish something “greater” in the near future.

In an exclusive interview, the former India captain informed Sportstar that the women team would be playing more Test matches soon.

According to Ganguly, once the number of women players in the player pool increases, the BCCI will hold a larger and grander Women’s Indian Premier League.

According to him, the Women’s ipl T20 Challenge will take place during the Men’s Indian Premier League Playoffs, which will take place in May.

“This year’s Women’s T20 Challenge will take place in May. Hopefully, as the number of women players grows, we will be able to stage a larger women’s IPL in the future. The Women’s T20 Challenge, on the other hand, will take place during the IPL playoffs this year.” Ganguly stated.

Notably, the Women’s T20 Challenge was not held last year due to the covid-19 Pandemic; however, now India’s women’s T20 tournament is back after a one-year gap.

In the latest Women’s ODI and T20I rankings, India is ranked fourth and third, respectively. On March 6, the Women in Blue will face Pakistan in their first encounter of the ICC Women’s World Cup.

India has ended as a runner-up twice in the grandest stage of cricket, against Australia in 2005 and England in 2017, and will be seeking to win their first trophy in New Zealand.
