Digital desk: BCCI punished captain Rishabh Pant and the whole Delhi Capitals squad following their conviction for the second consecutive IPL 2024 slow over rate. In Match 16 of the 17th season of the IPL, they committed their second over-rate offense in Vizag against the Kolkata Knight Riders, which is considered a violation of the IPL Code of Conduct.
The BCCI said, "Rishab Pant, the Delhi Capitals captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam on April 3."
Pant received a sanction of Rs. 24 lakh, while the other DC XI players, including Impact Player Abishek Porel, received fines of either Rs. 6 lakh or 25% of their match fees, whichever was less.
BCCI added, "As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Pant was fined INR 24 lakhs. The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 6 lakhs or 25 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser."
In their most recent game at the same venue against the Chennai Super Kings, DC had a slow over rate, and Pant was fined Rs. 12 lakh for it. There were penalties for each DC player individually.
