'He does not...': CSK CEO provides major update on MS Dhoni's availability for IPL 2024

Digital Desk: Amidst the anticipation of yet another thrilling Indian Premier League season, the CEO of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kasi Viswanathan, has provided some insight into skipper MS Dhoni's future. The veteran batsman and wicketkeeper has been quite private about his plans, according to Viswanathan, and he probably will tell the crowd directly.

Many people speculated that Dhoni's season in the 2023 Indian Premier League would be his last. The former Indian captain did, however, make a strong indication that he will return for the 2024 edition, having guided the team to an incredible fifth championship. He did concede, though, that his knee has been a source of worry.

Speaking at the Junior Super Kings event's launch in Chennai, Kasi said he didn't know what Dhoni's long-term goals were. He did, however, assert with confidence that the experienced player is expected to play the whole Indian Premier League season.
"I'm not aware of that. You see, the captain will give you his direct response. He doesn't explain his plans to us. Right now, he's doing great. His rehabilitation has begun. He went to work at the gym. And he'll probably start working in the nets in ten more days."

Following the conclusion of the IPL 2024 Auction in Dubai, MS Dhoni was recently spotted playing pickleball with Rishabh Pant, the captain of the Delhi Capitals.

Despite struggles with his batting in recent IPL seasons, Dhoni has unquestionably been the X-factor as a skipper. The Yellow Army, who won their fifth crown in the IPL this year, have now tied the Mumbai Indians for the most victories of any club in IPL history.

The auction went exactly as planned, Viswanathan revealed, adding that Bangladeshi seamer Mustafizur Rahman would be useful on the Chennai pitch.

"I think we achieved almost all of our goals. Planning was underway for Daryl Mitchell. We believed that Mustafizur Rahman, with the side boundary, would be a good bet at our Chepauk wicket. Though we weren't sure if we would be able to obtain them, these were our ideas. Fortunately, this time around the auction went well for us."

He also revealed that Sameer Rizvi is thought to be a good Ambati Rayudu replacement.

"Many of the teams had targeted Sameer Rizvi as a player. Getting Rizvi was perhaps a bit of a blessing. If you look at it, basically, we're attempting to find someone to replace Ambati Rayudu."
