Digital Desk : Rajasthan Royals defeated Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League for the first time since 2008. The Royals raced to the top of the 2023 IPL points table after their thrilling three-run triumph on Wednesday.

CSK were chasing 176 and were buoyed by a half-century from Devon Conway and a quick knock from Ajinkya Rahane before a middle-order collapse. As the Royals grabbed control of the game, Shivam Dube, Moeen Ali, and Ambati Rayudu all failed to score.

With the required run pace rising quickly, the Super Kings relied on Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni to secure victory.

MS Dhoni showed that he hasn't lost his ability to knock sixes, but towards the conclusion of the CSK innings, the objective had grown a little too lofty.

With a four and a six off Adam Zampa in the 18th over, Dhoni did give hints of his past, but Ravindra Jadeja, who had another strong night with the ball, just did not get rolling with the bat as it was too late for CSK.

MS Dhoni won the toss and chose to bowl in his 200th match as Chennai Super Kings captain in the Indian Premier League. Tushar Deshpande sent back Yashasvi Jaiswal after he hit two boundaries for Rajasthan Royals. In a brilliant move, RR placed left-handed Devdutt Padikkal at No.3.

To the surprise of CSK, Devdutt Padikkal arrived and carried out his mission prior to Sanju Samson. Padikkal took on the Chennai bowlers and scored 77 runs for the second wicket with Jos Buttler while scoring five boundaries in a 26-ball 38. On a slow surface, the two were aggressive in the Powerplay and gave the Royals a decisive advantage.

Both teams possessed excellent spinners, thus one of them would eventually have made the difference. After a shaky start, Ravindra Jadeja ended up bowling a remarkable over for CSK. In his second over, he got rid of Devdutt Padikkal and Sanju Samson for a two-ball duck.

Last Wednesday, RR suffered for such strange batting line-up changes. Against the Punjab Kings, R Ashwin was brought up to start the innings, while Devdutt Padikkal and Riyan Parag batted ahead of the more threatening Hetmyer.

However, the bowlers delivered for RR on the day, as they were able to pin back the CSK innings with some huge wickets in the midst of the chase and eventually secured their major win.
