Commonwealth Games 2026: Major Sports Excluded, Setback for India

The top games that are dropped from the list are, Cricket, Shooting, Badminton, Hockey, and Wrestling.

Digital Desk: The Commonwealth Games 2026 will be held in  Glasgow, Scotland, from 17th to 29th March 2026, where various sports competitions take place among the athletes from the Commonwealth Nations. But as a change of event this year the commonwealth authorities have eliminated some of the top sports.

The top games that are dropped from the list are, Cricket, Shooting, Badminton, Hockey, and Wrestling. There is a total of 10 games in the list of sports that are to be conducted. As a whole 13 sports are excluded including, table tennis, rugby, squash, triathlon, diving, etc.

It's sad news for the Indian sports community as most of the games that were excluded were the strength of Indian sportspersons. This exclusion will lead to lesser medal counts for India in general at the Commonwealth Games 2026.
