According to a viral video clip, Gambhir was the one trying to charge toward Kohli despite several attempts to be stopped by LSG players, including Captain KL Rahul.
Digital Desk: A day after a fight between the Indian cricketers
Virat Kohli and
Gautam Gambhir on the pitch at the Ekana Stadium in a match between the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Congress leader Supriya Shrinate called Gambhir's behaviour "hooliganism" and called it shameful.
Taking to Twitter, Shrinate wrote, “Gautam Gambhir - an elected MP and Cricket player who ever wore the jersey of India. But his actions in the recent past and especially his street gang hooliganism after the IPL match yesterday is shameful. I wish…someday such an aggressive attitude would be shown in doing good to the people who have elected them. This is only the hysteria of the upcoming defeat in
Karnataka.”
After the game in Monday's Indian Premier League (IPL) match, LSG coach and RCB skipper Kohli clasped hands. Before Kyle Mayers approached the former RCB captain to speak with him, an enraged Gambhir aggressively shook hands with Kohli before taking him away. Then Gambhir spat a mouthful at Kohli, inciting a confrontation.
According to a viral video clip, Gambhir was the one trying to charge toward Kohli despite several attempts to be stopped by LSG players, including Captain KL Rahul. However, Gambhir and Kohli ultimately got into a nasty argument.
In the end, it was Rahul who calmed Kohli after a long chat about the Gambhir incident, which was followed by another argument involving Virat, Naveen, and Amit Mishra during the game.
The dispute between Kohli and Gambhir began in 2013. The two have been at odds a lot since the 2013 IPL. On the pitch, they have occasionally been known to engage in argumentative fights.
