Digital Desk: Mahika Gaur, a cricket player who made her first international debut at the age of 12, made history on Friday when she made her second international debut, this time for England. Mahika was included in the starting lineup as England played Sri Lanka in a Twenty20 match. Mahika also won her first international wicket on her big day, defeating Chamari Athapaththu. However, Mahika could have taken more wickets if it wasn't for rain playing spoilsport.

Batting first, England went on to post 186 runs on the board, with Danielle Wyatt and Alice Capsey being the leading run-scorers. When the rain put a halt to the match, Sri Lanka was 55/3 in 6 overs, chasing the target. By using the DLS method, England were declared winners by 12 runs.

After the game, England captain Heather Knight was full of praise for Mahika, who stands 6 feet 3 inches tall. Knight said, "Mahika was brilliant on her debut, She had to move to death bowling after the rain and she executed her plan perfectly. At that height, she gets real late swing which is quite a weapon."

Mahika, who looks up to Mitchell Starc and MS Dhoni, has already made progress toward becoming a sophisticated fast bowler. However, she wants to finish games like Mahi one day too.

    Who is Mahika gaur?

Mahika, raised in reading in the south of England, decided to play professional cricket in 2011 after an IPL match in Jaipur. The game between the Royals and the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), which featured the late Australian bowler Shane Warne, was a standout.

"In the garden, I was practising bowling, "I guess my dad was just shocked that I could roll my arm entirely without chucking the ball, He was a left-arm bowler in college but never got to do his cricket thing. But when he saw that I have potential, he's always been on board," earlier in April of this year, Gaur had stated.
