    Digital Desk: The Indian state of Odisha will host the Hockey's Men's World Cup for the second time in a row in 2023. The matches will be held in various stadiums throughout the state between the 13th and 19th of January with Odisha serving as the major sponsor of India's National Hockey Team. Assam is also on the entry list to receive the Hockey World Cup trophy and it will reach Guwahati in December. 

    The trophy from the world's most renowned hockey competition will be transported to Guwahati on December 8 to encourage the state's children and youth to participate in this sport.

    The trophy is currently on its way to Guwahati Airport, where it will arrive on December 8. According to a statement, the trophy will be accepted by Gitartha Goswami, Member Secretary of SLAC and General Secretary of Assam Hockey. Tapan Das, a five-time Olympian, is also the Treasurer of Hockey India.

    Hockey is one of the country's oldest organised sports, and the country has multiple international victories to its name from the pre-independence and early post-independence periods. The trophy of the most popular tournament of this sport will be shown in many places in the country to revive this sport in the modern era.

    SLAC Member Secretary Gitartha Goswami stated at a news conference on Tuesday that "Guwahati will host the 2023 Asia Cup. The Asia Cup will also feature South Korea, Japan, Arabia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, China, and archrival Pakistan. The first Asia Cup hockey meeting was held in New Delhi. On Tuesday, the 2013-14 season begins in the United Kingdom."

    On a note, "The Chief Minister has given close attention to the successful organisation of both the Hockey World Cup trophy reception ceremony and the Asia Cup events in Guwahati." She Continued.

    According to the statement, a troupe of Bihu dancers will perform at the venue to welcome the trophy. It will then be brought to Guwahati's Hockey Stadium, escorted by a bike rally. The trophy will be showcased in the stadium, which will also be visited by various dignitaries and ministers, including the state's CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and the Health and Family Welfare Minister Keshab Mahanta, who is also the President of Assam Hockey Association.
