Digital Desk: India will open their World Cup 2023 campaign in Chennai against Australia. The Rohit Sharma-led team will be aiming to become the fourth consecutive host nation to win the tournament, a streak that began when they took the trophy in 2011.

On October 8, India will face off against Australia in the fifth match of the ODI World Cup 2023 at 2 PM in MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Indian cricket fans just had to wait a day to witness their favourite side, India, in action.

Australia skipper Pat Cummins said on Thursday that his team has a 'strategy' to deal with Indian spinners in the first Cricket World Cup match, adding that the team is 'confident' after winning the third ODI in Rajkot.

"We're confident. We got a good win in the third One-Day International (in Rajkot), which was arguably closer to our strongest XI. We've had a pretty good record in ODIs in India," said the Australian captain at a promotional event.
