Digital Desk: The Indian Premier League mini-auction for the 2024 season will be conducted on December 19 in Dubai, as per (BCCI) announcement on December 3. This will be the first time the auction will be held overseas.
According to the PTI news agency, 1166 participants have registered for the auction, which will be the final mini-auction before next year's main auction. There are 77 places available, with 30 of them reserved for international players. The ten teams can spend a total of Rs 262.95 crore.
According to the report, the auction will include World Cup-winning Australian players Travis Head, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Starc. All three have set a base price of Rs 2 crore, while Rachin Ravindra, a highly rated young all-rounder from New Zealand, has set a base price of Rs 50 crore.
In the next few days, the IPL organising committee will shorten the list of players and share the shortlist of available players at the auction.
Notably, the deadline for player retention was November 26th, with organisations actively dismissing players. The trade window is still open and will close only one week before the mini-auction on December 12.
Hardik Pandya, who guided Gujarat Titans to IPL triumph in 2022 and the final in 2023, returned to Mumbai Indians in an all-cash transaction during the trading window. Royal Challengers Bangalore also acquired Australian all-rounder Cameron Green from the Mumbai Indians.
Gujarat Titans will enter the auction with a maximum purse of Rs 38.15 crore as a result of the Hardik Pandya trade, while Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals have Rs 31.4 crore and Rs 28.95 crore, respectively.
According to rumours, the schedule for the IPL 2024 season will be released after the dates for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections are formed.
