Digital Desk: For the first time in the Indian Premier League (IPL), all-rounders Pandya brothers will be featured in opposing teams. While Hardik Pandya, a fast-bowling all-rounder, will captain Gujarat Titans in their inaugural season, Krunal will be seen playing T20 cricket for Lucknow Super Giants.
On Day 1 of the super auction, Hardik quickly responded when his brother was drafted by the Super Giants. "See you on the other side, dear bro," he posted on Instagram.
Both all-rounders formerly played for the Mumbai Indians.
Krunal entered the auction with a starting bid of 2 crores. The all-initial rounder's interest was piqued by Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings, who engaged in a heated bidding war that pushed the all-value rounder's past 5 crores.
As his price climbed above 7 crores, the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants joined the fray. When his price reached 7.25 crore, Gujarat Titans expressed interest in the all-rounder.
The Super Giants eventually won the bidding war and selected the player for a fee of Rs. 8.25 crore.
Krunal has played in 84 IPL matches thus far, earning 1143 runs and 51 wickets in the process.
