India's Jasprit Bumrah and Smriti Mandhana named ICC Player of the Month for June

Bumrah earned recognition for his outstanding performances during India's victorious T20 World Cup campaign, while Mandhana was honored following her remarkable batting display against South Africa on home soil.

Digital Desk: India made history by achieving a unique milestone as it became the first team to secure both the ICC Men's and Women's Player of the Month Awards in the same cycle. This accolade came after Jasprit Bumrah and Smriti Mandhana were named winners on Tuesday, July 09.

Bumrah earned recognition for his outstanding performances during India's victorious T20 World Cup campaign, while Mandhana was honored following her remarkable batting display against South Africa on home soil.

In the race for the award, Bumrah emerged victorious over his captain Rohit Sharma, and Afghanistan's Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who were also contenders for the prestigious title. Bumrah's pivotal role in India's T20 World Cup triumph included a standout performance in the final match in Barbados, where he swung the game in India's favor with crucial wickets and an economical bowling spell that secured a seven-run victory over South Africa.

Reflecting on his achievement, Bumrah expressed his gratitude and acknowledged the contributions of Rohit Sharma and Rahmanullah Gurbaz during the same period. Mandhana, on the other hand, celebrated her maiden ICC Player of the Month award after delivering exceptional performances in India's ODI series against South Africa. She amassed 343 runs at an impressive average of 114.33, including two centuries that played a pivotal role in India's series victory.

Overall, India's dual triumph in the ICC Player of the Month Awards underscored its dominance on the global cricket stage, marking a significant milestone in the country's cricketing history.
