India star pacer Umesh Yadav's father passes away at 74

Digital Desk: Umesh Yadav's father, Tilak Yadav, passed away at the age of 74.  The well-known pacer's father was receiving medical care in Nagpur, where he had resided for a long time due to his illness. He tragically went away on February 23. Umesh and the other members of Team India had already left at the early end of the second Test match against Australia and gone back to their residences.

Tilak was a well-known professional wrestler, according to Sports Tak. His final rituals were reportedly performed seriously on Thursday, according to the newspaper. Before his death, Tilak had worked at Western Coalfields for many years.

The third Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is barely one week away, and it looks like Umesh Yadav will be available for selection. The right-arm pacer was benched for the first two games, but in recent years, he has consistently been a member of the starting Eleven for home games. For the first two games, India chose to field three all-rounders who can bowl spin.

In the pecking order, Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami were chosen before Umesh Yadav and played in the first two Tests. It is expected that they will continue to play in the third Test as well.

Umesh Yadav would be compelled to sit out if India chooses to play with three spinners if the pitch is more conducive to spin bowling.

After making his Test debut in 2011, Umesh Yadav has appeared in 54 games. Since then, the 35-year-old has made intermittent appearances in the playing XI, most recently in the Mirpur Test match against Bangladesh in December 2022.

In 50-over games, he has played 75 ODIs and taken 79 wickets. He had the most wickets for India in the World Cup in 2015, but he hasn't played in an ODI since 2018. Also, he has nine T20I caps. Unexpectedly, Umesh rejoined the T20I squad just before the 2022 T20 World Cup, however, he was regrettably left out of the lineup for the ICC event.
